Sausage Sausage

Originally my next post was to be all about Bobby's First Concert the other night, but in light of recent events that's not nearly patriotic enough. With Osama bin Laden dead the archetypical villain of my generation lies (likely in little bits and pieces) in U.S. custody and for the next week to month we can all expect a massive upsurge in nauseating levels of patriotism. Then again, it's not every day the United States Army shoots the shit out of Towelhead Enemy #1. Tonight, America's penis throbs in victory.

Fun fact: I can't watch that entire video. I hardly expect anyone to.

"At some point in the late afternoon, Washington time, the man behind the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil died from an American bullet to his head."

Democracy, PRC style.

I don't think the operation was meant to be democratic Omar. the gentleman who actually shot him may not have been able to see Mr. bin Laden's hands as he bravely stood behind his wife, thus precipitating the gunshot in question.

In any event, at least there were no claims of "shot while escaping", and it is clear that he was dead before he hit the water, though aside from the PR aspect, I doubt that too many people would give much of a shit.

Buried at sea.

Smells like bull shit to me.

buried at sea?

what is this, catch and release fishing?

Omar said...

Of course it wasn't meant to be democratic. It's you guys at your frontier justice best. You have been a lesser, more paranoid, meaner nation since the day following 9/11.
The loss of your liberties, the sacrifice of individual freedom, the breakdown of your rule of law was bin Laden’s greatest victory over you.
Nobody gives a shit? I give a shit.

Yeah, and the whole buried at sea crappola smells to the highest of heavens.

Ummm...the Army only flew the helicopters. The Navy (Seals) shot the shit out of that festering turd.

Omar said...

I don't care how festering a turd someone is, assassination is not justice. And those that think it is are, well, wrong.

I agree Omar. Bringing yourself to the level of your enemy no matter how effective; is still making yourself the same as him.

Of course when you look at all the civilian deaths at the hands of the American military: hundreds of thousands killed, maimed or displaced in the pursuit of war against terror, one has to wonder if simply going in and shooting Usama would have been better collateral control if done 10 years ago.

Frankly I feel Bush and Chaney should be tried as war criminals; and definitely don't think that it is appropriate for people to applaud sanctioned murder.

Democracy don't rule the world, You'd better get that in your head. This world is ruled by violence, But I guess that's better left unsaid.

I was happy to hear of this news yet a bit put off by the macabre street celebrations.

I find that my country disgusts me more often than it does not--by which I mean that the American people disgust me.

The vague concept of "America" that we are told to worship is nothing more than the abstract sum of our citizens and their popular culture and beliefs, which of course means that our robust patriotism is really just narcissim on a grand scale.

The people of this country can go eat dirt. I'm sure many of them are used to it.

P.S.

Omar, I kind of love you now. In a gay way.

He's easy to love in a gay way.

Also BBC, you do talk too much. This was never in dispute, by anyone.
